Guide to Tap sizes:

Type	Chamfer Length (Threads)	Best Use Case
Taper (1st)	7–10 threads	Easiest to start; ideal for hard materials or deep holes.
Second / Intermediate	3–5 threads	General-purpose; standard for through-holes.
Bottoming / Plug	1–2 threads	Used to cut threads to the very bottom of a blind hole.

Standard pitch taps are primarily used to cut internal threads in a workpiece, to enable secure fastening of bolts and screws.
Fine pitch taps are used to cut threads that are spaced closer together for more precision and strength.
